Last Thursday Marco Delesalle took Felix Camire and I up the Replicant. This was my 3rd waterfall climb and a real schooling for me in the art of steep ice. On the approach we met up with Zoe and Max, who climbed T2 right beside us which offered some added entertainment. The T2 is a nasty looking, several tonne, hanging dagger of ice that you have to step on to from the rock. It looked like a real gamblers’ special. The Replicant is three pitches of near vertical mushroomy ice with a lot of quality hooking for the ice tools. The climb is half way up the side of Mount Rundle on the Trophy Wall so the location is spectacular. Felix and I almost froze in the hanging belays, but we survived. These are Felix’s pictures from the climb.
